Learning Spanish In The Era Of Cyberspace
By: Freddy Poveda ,

Learning a second language is a difficult feat when you are already an adult. Studies reveal that one grows older, the capacity for learning a second language is diminished. Children of three to five years old have no difficulty of learning a language especially if it is the medium used when they are growing up. They can even learn five languages all at once, provided that they are used in his natural environment.

As one grows older than five years old, learning another language is greatly decreased in the passing of the years. A way of compelling an adult to learn a new language is by actually living in a place where one is forced to speak the language he is learning because there is no other choice. This speeds up learning and one learns even the intonations, connotations and denotations of language in the specific culture bound context he or she is in.

If one is trying to learn a second language in a school, the effort is an uphill climb. The memory will have to work doubly hard since one is living in another culture with a different language. There is little opportunity to practice as well as there is a little pressure to really learn. With the advent of cyberspace, these disadvantages are minimized to a large degree.

The limitations of time and place are conquered so that one can take Spanish classes online. The limitations of culture are transcended when you get to converse with a native speaker from halfway around the globe in real time complete with real time voice, lip movement and facial expressions over the webcam.

Learning Spanish online has only recently been made possible because of the VOIP technology. VOIP means voice over the internet protocol. Similar technologies are now accessible and available such as the IP telephony, internet telephony, voice over broadband, broadband phone, and broadband telephony. Once you get access to these technologies, then you are now ready to take Spanish classes online. Here are a lot of other tips for you to learn Spanish online:

1. Make sure that you are taking Spanish classes online with a native speaker. This is to ensure that you already get to practice speaking Spanish from day one. The best way to learn a language is not to memorize it but to speak it.

2. Spanish online classes are best if you complement them with other Spanish related materials. The principle here is to fill your world with Spanish. With Spanish online, you may want to start downloading children’s books in Spanish. If you get more prolific, try searching Spanish online websites. Take your lessons seriously by searching Spanish online for additional lessons, tests, among other things.

3. Try to talk in Spanish to as many people as possible. Again, this is provided by the internet. You can chat in Spanish over the internet to practice your skills.
